NB1088 + Matrix NeoCast = Unprecedented Performance

For ultimate brake lining performance and life, NB1088-FF cohesive friction linings last twice as long as traditional abrasive-friction linings, while protecting drum surfaces from wear and reducing brake noise.

Description

The NB1088 cohesive friction brake block is the ultimate brake lining. Combine it with the ultimate brake shoe, Matrix NeoCast, and you’ve equipped your trucks and trailers with the industry’s best lining and shoe combination. From OTR to Transit applications, the NB1088 lining deliver longest life, backed by a sustained maximum torque never before seen by modern brake drums.

Formulated with special chemicals that bleed out of the lining during braking, the NB1088 lining develops a thin film on itself and the drum wall to create non-abrasive or cohesive friction. As a result, there’s less heat, no damage to the drum’s surface, and brake noise is reduced. Linings last twice as long, or your next round is on us.

Key NB1088 Advantages

  • Offers twice the life of abrasive linings – Guaranteed as part of Triple Double Guarantee™
  • Doubles drum life
  • Eliminates drum hot spotting and thermal cracking
  • Reduces uneven tire wear
  • Increases wheel-end component life
  • Extends maintenance and replacement intervals

NB1088-FF brake blocks pass the inertia dynamometer requirement of the FMVSS 121 brake standar d at a 23,000 lb. GAWR when using an AL factor of 165 (type 30 air chamber and 5.5″ slack adjuster) or greater for OTR applications. For Transit, the NB1088-FF lining passes the inertia dynamometer requirement of the FMVSS 121 brake standard at a 26,000 lb. GAWR when using a type 30 air chamber and 7.0″ slack adjuster.

Ultimate Friction Material

  • Superior, asbestos-free matrix
  • Absence of conventional abrasives
  • Special ingredients to promote controlled transfer film
  • Film thickness 1 to 1.5 micron
  • Friction developed due to cohesive forces at molecular level
  • Special ingredients to control & condition film inter action
  • Heat sink particles to lower the rubbing surface temperature
  • Meets or exceeds FMVSS 121

Now combine that with the benefits of cast iron shoes, and the advantages multiply.

Ultimate One-Piece Shoe

  • Matrix NeoCast brake shoe – lasts twice as long as pressed steel
  • World’s first lightweight 4707Q cast iron shoe
  • Now available in a 4709 shoe
  • Lasts twice as long as pressed-steel cores
  • Comparable in weight to pressed-steel shoes
  • One-piece, high-carbon ductile cast iron
  • Eliminates table flex, web stretch or broken welds
  • Sustains maximum torque for life
  • Unrivaled heat dissipation
  • No coining during relinings
  • Resists rust 2-3x longer than pressed-steel
  • Exceeds SAE J434 D4512 standard

Ultimate Three-Piece Shoe

  • Matrix NeoSteel brake shoe
  • Premium, pure-grade steel composition for greater rigidity
  • Single, continuous table-to-web weld construction for greater strength
  • Exceeds SAE J434 D4512 standard

Application

Recommended for use on trucks, tractors, and trailers, as well as transit, city bus, or refuse applications. Pair our OTR/heavy-duty (23,000 lbs.) or Transit/severe-duty (26,000 lbs.) blocks with either the Matrix NeoCast or Matrix NeoSteel shoes. Contact us for more details.
